Cyclone formed over the Andaman Sea, leading to rain likely in Odisha from 23 to 25 October
IMD: IMD Director General Mrityunjay Mohapatra said, IMD has not predicted whether this system will turn into a cyclonic storm or not. October is known as the month of cyclones.
A cyclonic situation has formed over the Andaman Sea, which is likely to intensify into a low-pressure area by Monday, said the Indian Meteorological Department or IMD. Its effect would therefore be felt in the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, and Bangladesh. "A proper picture will emerge once the low-pressure area is formed, which itself will take a cyclone shape," said IMD Director General Mrityunjay Mohapatra. The cyclone may bring rain over the coastal areas of Odisha, according to the Meteorological Department.
IMD said in the bulletin, "A cyclone is formed over the Andaman Sea. Due to its effect, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal and the adjoining Andaman Sea on 21st October. After this, its effect will turn severe northwestwards on 23rd October."
The IMD has not predicted whether this system will turn into a cyclonic storm or not. October is the cyclone month. We predict the path of a system after accessing more than 10 weather models, but low pressure area has not formed there yet," said IMD Director General Mrityunjay Mohapatra. He further said that it is too early to predict the cyclone. This system is likely to affect the entire coastal areas of North Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, and Bangladesh.
