Asian Games Contingent: Sindhu’s Physio, Wrestling Coaches and Personal Coaches Added at Last Moment
Asian Games: India's star female shooter Manu Bhaker, who won two Olympic medals, will now showcase her strength at the Asian Games. Following the death of coach Jaspal Rana, Manu had sought her father's support, but her request was denied.
While the physiotherapist of PV Sindhu, Hira, and three foreign coaches for wrestling were added to the Asian Games contingent in the last moment because of the interference of Sports Ministry and SAI, the shooter, Manu Bhaker, heartbroken after the death of her coach Jaspal Rana, has not been getting any help from her father Ramkishan Bhaker.
Support staff of 77-member Athletics contingent has been increased from 23 to 31 members. While the 244 members support staff consist of 33 physiotherapists, 22 doctors, video analysts, 10 masseurs and 3 psychologists, the personal coaches of tee-tee player Sutirtha Mukherjee, long jumper Shahnawaz Khan and Ancy Sojan have also been included in the contingent in the last moment.
PV Sindhu had requested to take her physio Hira Mundluru to the Asian Games. The Badminton Federation had not submitted any names, but SAI accepted Sindhu's request. The Wrestling Federation had not included the names of women's foreign coaches Kosei Akaishi of Japan, Greco-Roman coach Gogi Koguashvili of Russia, and freestyle coach Shako Bentinidis, but they are now on the list. Table tennis players Payas Jain, Cinderella Das, and Sutirtha Mukherjee had requested the company of personal coach Soumyadeep Roy, which was granted. Shahnawaz's coach Bhupinder Singh and Ancy Sojan's coach Anup Joseph have also been included in the team.
