Gold, Silver Trade Higher as Crude, Bond Yields Ease; MCX Gold Near Rs 1.63 Lakh

Key Highlights:

  • MCX Gold futures (October) opened at Rs 1,63,202 per 10 grams, up Rs 320 from the previous close of Rs 1,62,882.
  • Silver futures (September) opened at Rs 2,45,583 per kg, up Rs 1,456 from the previous close of Rs 2,44,127.
  • COMEX gold up 0.11 per cent at around $4,699/oz; COMEX silver gained 0.74 per cent to trade near $69/oz.
  • Prices supported by easing crude oil, softer bond yields and a weaker dollar; Iran-Oman talks on reopening the Strait of Hormuz further calmed supply concerns.
  • MCX Gold range: Rs 1,62,500-1,63,400; breakout above Rs 1,63,400 could open the way towards Rs 1,63,900. MCX Silver resistance seen at Rs 2,48,800.

Gold and silver prices traded firmly higher on Wednesday, with both precious metals gaining up to nearly 1 per cent in early trade. The move was supported by a familiar but powerful macro cocktail — easing crude oil prices, softer bond yields, a weaker US dollar and de-escalating geopolitical concerns around the Strait of Hormuz. For an asset class that has been in a strong secular uptrend over recent months, these tailwinds only reinforce the underlying case that precious metals continue to remain firmly on investors' radar.

The MCX Snapshot
