UP Shiksha Mitras Get ₹18,000 Honorarium; ₹460 Crore Released

For individual Shiksha Mitras, the impact is significant. An extra ₹8,000 a month, or ₹96,000 a year, is a major rise for workers who have long sought better pay for teaching in government schools.

The decision also comes as Uttar Pradesh heads towards its next Assembly elections, due in early 2027, making it one of the state's larger welfare-linked spending moves for school staff this year.

What Officials Said

Minister Sandeep Singh said the government has strengthened the economic interests of Shiksha Mitras. "The release of Rs 460.23 crore for September and October, along with the increased honorarium, further strengthens the government's commitment to Shiksha Mitras," he said.

Director General of School Education Monika Rani said the higher honorarium would help Shiksha Mitras carry out their duties with greater enthusiasm, strengthening learning for students.

Districts are expected to complete payments for September and October under the new rate. Shiksha Mitras should check with their district basic education office if the revised amount does not reflect in their accounts.
