Ranbir's Look: Rage and Wounds

Ranbir Kapoor's first poster, released on September 24, took a more violent route. He appears in a rugged avatar with a blood-stained sleeve and a bullet mark on his shirt, wearing a serious expression. That poster came with the caption: "Woh rutba, woh raub, woh junoon!"

Why It Matters: A Story Told in Contrasts

Placed side by side, the two posters seem designed to set up a face-off. Ranbir's look signals war, wounds and aggression. Vicky's signals stillness, control and a quieter threat. For a film titled Love & War, the marketing appears to be building its central tension one character at a time.

It also reflects Bhansali's known style of heightened drama, where emotion and conflict often sit side by side.

A Reunion, a Debut and a Familiar Trio

The film brings together a notable mix of old and new Bhansali associations.

For Ranbir, it is a homecoming of sorts. He made his Bollywood debut with Bhansali's Saawariya in 2007, and Love & War marks his reunion with the filmmaker. Alia Bhatt has previously worked with Bhansali in Gangubai Kathiawadi. For Vicky, this is his first film with the director.

The three actors also share screen history with each other. Ranbir and Vicky appeared together in Sanju (2018), Vicky and Alia starred together in Raazi (2018), and Ranbir and Alia were paired in Brahmastra. Love & War is the first time all three come together in one film.

A Long Road to Release

The film has seen multiple date changes. It was first announced for a Christmas 2025 release, then moved to March 20, 2026, before the makers confirmed January 21, 2027 as the final date. The project has now moved into post-production.

The new date places the film in the week of Republic Day, which falls on Tuesday, January 26, 2027. Love & War will release worldwide in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Vicky's Big Momentum

Vicky comes into the project on the back of the biggest hit of his career. He was last seen in Chhaava, a historical action film based on the life of Sambhaji, the second ruler of the Maratha Empire. Directed by Laxman Utekar and adapted from Shivaji Sawant's Marathi novel Chhava, the film released on February 14, 2025 and became Vicky's highest-grossing film, crossing ₹500 crore at the India box office.

That success raises expectations for his first outing in Bhansali's grand cinematic world.

What Comes Next

With the first looks of Ranbir and Vicky out within three days, the promotional campaign for Love & War is clearly underway, nearly four months ahead of release.
