SRK 61st Birthday: Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor Share Throwbacks

The picture shows Ajay and SRK side by side in black leather jackets and blue denims, a look that instantly brings back a certain era of Hindi cinema. Ajay’s caption was short and warm: “Picture purani hai aur dosti bhi... Happy Birthday, Shah Rukh!” He ended it with a red heart emoji.

The post stood out because Ajay rarely puts his friendships on display online. He is known for keeping his social media low-key, so a personal throwback for SRK quickly caught fans’ attention. Many called it one of the most heartfelt wishes of the day.

Anil Kapoor’s note: “Neither of us is counting the years”

Anil Kapoor joined the celebrations with a series of throwback memories with SRK. “Happy Birthday, Shahrukh! Years of laughter, countless memories and you haven’t lost an ounce of that charm or madness and clearly neither of us is counting the years. Here’s to many more. Jaldi milte hai, Lots of love always!” he wrote, tagging the superstar.

The line about not counting the years fits both men. Anil and SRK are two of Bollywood’s most energetic stars, and both are still working at full pace decades into their careers. Their best-known film together is the 1995 release Trimurti, in which they starred with Jackie Shroff.

SRK’s own gift: the first song from ‘King’

SRK also had something for his fans. On his birthday, he unveiled ‘Tu Mil Jaaye’, the first track from his much-awaited action film King. The romantic number features SRK with Deepika Padukone, and the two once again bring the on-screen chemistry fans have loved since their earlier hits.

The song brings together a strong team. Arijit Singh sings it, and Ed Sheeran adds an English rap that he has also written. Sachin-Jigar composed the music, Kumaar wrote the lyrics, and Piyush-Shazia choreographed it.

King is directed by Siddharth Anand and jointly produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures. Along with Shah Rukh, the cast includes Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaideep Ahlawat, Abhay Verma and Arshad Warsi in pivotal roles.

Why this birthday feels bigger

SRK’s birthdays have long been more than personal celebrations. They are a yearly fan event, with crowds gathering outside his home and social media full of tributes. This year, the throwback posts from two of his contemporaries and the release of a new song from his next film came on the same day. Fans got a look back at old friendships and a first taste of what is coming next.
