Spain's Carlos Alcaraz defeated Australia's Alex de Minaur in straight sets at the Vienna Open. With this victory, he won his fourth tour-level title and completed a stellar ATP 500 season. Alcaraz, ranked No. 3 in the ATP rankings, defeated de Minaur 6-1, 6-4 in the championship match to lift the indoor hard-court tournament trophy.
Alcaraz played a brilliant game for 97 minutes and defeated world No. 10 player de Minaur. He remained unseeded throughout his five matches, winning his fourth tour-level trophy of the season. Alcaraz was in excellent form in the first set of Sunday's final in Vienna. The Spaniard struck the ball with remarkable precision. His groundstrokes combined power and accuracy, constantly challenging de Minaur's renowned defensive skills. However, the Australian, in his usual style, fought hard, taking five of the seven games to deuce. Alcaraz's brilliant play at crucial moments allowed him to break serve three times and take a 6-1 lead.
Rotterdam champion de Minaur, who reached the Vienna final in 2026 without losing a match in 10 indoor matches, continued to feel the pressure in the second set. The 27-year-old de Minaur saved break points in the second, fourth, and eighth games to hold serve, but couldn't do so in the 10th. On his first championship point at 30/40, Alcaraz won a brilliant rally and sealed the victory.
