Eastern Rajasthan will get the gift of ERCP on New Year, thirst of 13 districts will be quenched

Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat held an important meeting regarding e-RCP on Wednesday. During this, he said that drinking water for 13 districts of Eastern Rajasthan and water supply for industrial areas will be ensured. It is expected that Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh will sign the MoU in January.

The work of quenching the thirst of dry throats of 13 districts of Eastern Rajasthan has started on a war footing. On Wednesday, on the instructions of Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Secretary Debashree Mukherjee called an important meeting of officials of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, in which the MoU of Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP)-Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal (PKC) Link Project was finalized. There was an important discussion on giving shape.

The meeting was held to finalize the MoU based on the revised plan of the ERCP-Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal Link Project. In this, the draft of the Memorandum of Understanding prepared in the meeting held on 27th September was discussed in detail. The draft of the MoU was finalized in the meeting.

It is expected that both the state and central governments will sign the MoU in the coming January. Officials of the Central Water Commission and the National Water Development Agency were also present at the meeting. This link project will not only provide drinking water to the residents of 13 districts of Eastern Rajasthan but will also ensure water supply to industrial areas. 2.8 lakh hectare area of Malba and Chambal region of Madhya Pradesh will also be irrigated. Not only this, the DPR of the revised plan is also likely to be prepared by March next year.

Many people have been trying for a long time to implement ERCP in Rajasthan. Union Manpower Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has played an important role in this. Rajendra Singh said that as soon as the BJP government was formed in Rajasthan, the work of implementing this project started on a priority basis.

It is noteworthy that before the elections, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat had included the ERCP-PKC link project in the five priority works in the resolution letter of Rajasthan. Shekhawat's predecessor Ashok Gehlot government was also accused of stalling this project. According to Shekhawat, it could not be materialized due to the stubbornness of the Ashok Gehlot government. Now lakhs of residents of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh will get the benefit of double-engine government.
