According to a feature tracker, the instant messaging platform is working on a Meta AI widget, which will allow users to directly open the chatbot directly from the home screen.
Starting in 2024, WhatsApp users in some regions finally got access to Meta AI, which gave them a minimal way to interact with the in-house chatbot developed by Meta. According to Discord, this widget was still under test and not available to even beta testers.
According to a report by feature tracker WABetaInfo, this new feature has been spotted in the WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.25.1.27 update, although the widget is currently in the testing phase and is not visible to users. It is unclear when beta testers will be able to see and try the feature.
According to the screenshots shared in the report, WhatsApp's new widget gives users access to Meta AI. It is a 4x1 size widget, which looks similar to the Google Search widget. The widget has a light grey background, a white text field, and a camera icon.
