England lost a 100-run match against India in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2026 final at the Harare Sports Club on Friday. Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored a blazing 175 runs off 80 balls, with 15 fours and 15 sixes, and made the game one-sided for India. The English team was reportedly stunned by his performance. English skipper Thomas Rev commended 14-year-old opening batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi, saying, "We didn't know where to bowl at him."
England captain Thomas Rev seemed to be quite disappointed after losing the title match. He said, "When a player like Vaibhav Suryavanshi starts playing well, it's always difficult. He's shown us what he's capable of before. Yes, I think we were a little surprised. It was definitely difficult, and on a good pitch, when he started playing. We had no idea where to bowl."
What were England's plans? He said, "We did our research. We were just going to keep the players in the ring and bowl over the stumps as much as possible, use our change-ups, and that's what worked for us against India before. But Vaibhav played well, and credit to him."

Was he expecting too much from the pitch after bowling? Rev replied, "A little bit." The idea was that we knew how much we had to chase and that would help us maintain our momentum, but I think our batsmen put in a great effort. Caleb's incredible innings, and Dawkes also scored some runs. Yeah, it's really a testament to the mindset to go out there and try to chase it.
What happened during the break? He said, "We were really excited. We could have gone out and played our shots. Unfortunately, we didn't win, but we gave a good effort, and yes, we all fought really well."
