Sri Lanka has advanced to the Super-4 stage after beating Hong Kong by four wickets in the Group B match of the Asia Cup 2025 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Monday night. In this match, Hong Kong batted first and scored 149 runs for the loss of four wickets in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, Sri Lanka reached the target with 7 balls remaining, thanks to Pathum Nissanka's explosive yet controlled innings of 68 runs off 44 balls and Wanindu Hasaranga's unbeaten 20 runs off just 9 balls at the end. With this win, Sri Lanka tops their group in the points table.

Chasing a target of 150, Sri Lanka looked headed for an easy win, guided by Nissanka's superb timing. Although Hong Kong fought back by taking out Sri Lanka's middle order, their batting depth ultimately secured the victory. The match saw six catches dropped by Hong Kong. Meanwhile, an expensive no-ball by captain Yasin Murtaza in the 18th over proved to be a turning point.

For Sri Lanka, Pathum Nissanka scored 68 runs from 44 balls, Kusal Perera added 20 runs off 16 balls, and Wanindu Hasaranga remained not out at 20 runs from 9 balls. On the Hong Kong side, captain Yasim Murtaza took the most wickets, with two.
