Asian Games Cricket 2026: Vipraj Nigam Replaces Varun Chakravarthy, Check His IPL and T20 Stats
Varun Chakaravarthy ruled out of Asian Games 2026, Varun Chakaravarthy injured: The Indian cricket team has suffered a setback ahead of the 2026 Asian Games. Varun Chakravarthy has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury, and Vipraj Nigam has been included in the team in his place.
Asian Games will take place in Japan, Aichi and Nagoya, from September 19 to October 4, 2026. Indian national cricket team faces one big problem before the Asian Games. Varun Chakravarthy will not take part in the Asian Games because of his injury. Varun Chakravarthy was replaced by Vipraj Nigam in the list of players who were chosen to play T20 cricket for India at the Asian Games. Vipraj Nigam has no experience in playing international cricket matches yet.
However, it is important to note that Varun Chakravarthy got an injury during the first T20 match of the series against Afghanistan. The fact of Varun Chakravarthy's injury was officially announced by the BCCI, however, it was not known whether he would be able to participate in the Asian Games or not.
Vipraaj Nigam is a native of Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh. It is right-handed batsman and leg-spin bowler. He has shown his skills as an all-rounder in domestic cricket. His outstanding performance in the IPL and domestic cricket has impressed the selectors of India national cricket team. Vipraaj Nigam started playing cricket in Barabanki and then after moving to Lucknow managed to get into Uttar Pradesh Under-19 and Under-23 teams.
