Pratik Sehajpal on The Lift: 'Very Different From Love Stories'

"How Big a Thing Is That?"

The project carries a personal connection. "I remember my days in Delhi. My mother used to watch shows associated with the production house including Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai," he said. "From sitting in Delhi and watching television with my mother to now working with them, tell me, how big a thing is that?"

He called it "a privilege" to work with an established team.

Crediting His Directors

Pratik was modest about his craft. "I don't know if I am a good actor or not. But my directors have been so good and they are so good that they have made people feel that I am a good actor," he said. "The directors I've worked with have helped me find performances I might not have found myself."

Why It Matters: A TV Giant Bets on YouTube

The Lift marks a notable shift for Directors Kut Production, one of television's best-known banners, as it expands into the digital space. Rajan Shahi has highlighted the creative freedom that came with making the show for YouTube.

For audiences, it means a free-to-watch thriller from a major production house. For actors like Pratik, it offers room to try genres that television rarely gives them.

Pratik's Journey

Pratik rose through reality television. He was first runner-up of MTV's Ace of Space in 2018 and also appeared on MTV Love School. He was a finalist on Bigg Boss OTT 1 and became the first confirmed contestant of Bigg Boss 15, where he finished as runner-up to Tejasswi Prakash in January 2022.

He later moved into fiction, appearing in Naagin 6 and the 2020 series Bebaakee, and has also featured in several music videos.

How to Watch

The Lift premiered on September 11, 2026, with new episodes every Tuesday and Friday at 4 PM on the Directors Kut Production YouTube channel.

The Bottom Line

For Pratik Sehajpal, The Lift is both a creative stretch and a personal milestone: a thriller from the same production house whose shows he once watched with his mother.
