India has conveyed a powerful message to China once more. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated that India will not accept hegemony or coercion in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) in response to China's expansionist policies. Speaking to a crowd following the official opening of the Naval War College's new administrative building close to Panaji, the capital of Goa, the Defence Minister made these remarks. He emphasised that a stronger India would support regional democracy and the rule of law in addition to enabling economic development in its neighbours.

Rajnath Singh said India is ensuring that all neighbouring countries and maritime stakeholders in the Indian Ocean are helped to protect their autonomy and sovereignty. The Navy is operationally ready to fulfil its responsibility in the IOR by providing full assistance to the littoral countries.

The Defence Minister also discussed the Navy's function in defending the nation's interests in the Indo-Pacific area. According to him, our Navy makes sure that no nation in the Indo-Pacific area can subjugate our friendly nations or infringe on their sovereignty due to its immense economic and military might. India's global values are given tangible support by the Navy's readiness to stand by our allies.

During his speech to the Naval Commanders' Conference later, Rajnath Singh also observed the operational demonstration of the Russian-origin aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya and the new, indigenous INS Vikrant off the western seaboard. Highlighting the importance of focusing on maritime threats, Singh said past conflicts with Pakistan and China in the North led to efforts to strengthen land borders, due to which the maritime sector did not receive priority.
