In most sports, the trophy awarded to the champions is of the classic style or a replica of the machinery of the sport. But there are tournaments whose winning trophy surprised not just the competitors but also the audience. Lois Boisson, one of the women's singles champions in the Hamburg Open Tennis Tournament just recently, received a 3D printed replica of a container as a trophy. Boisson was also surprised at the odd trophy, yet she took photos with writer Anna Bondar, who was awarded a traditional silver plate. This is not the first occasion upon which an unusual trophy was awarded to the victor.

After the trophy was given to French player Boisson, the fans trolled the organizers a lot. Actually, the sponsor of this tournament was a cargo company, so she was given this trophy with the company's logo. Fans wrote on social media that if the cargo company is the sponsor, should a shipping container be given? Another user wrote, I have not seen a more useless trophy than this, it would have been better to give a real shipping container along with the truck.

These trophies were also a topic of discussion:

  • Mexican Open (Tennis): A pear-shaped trophy is given to the winner of this tournament. This is another strange trophy given in tennis tournaments.
  • Paris-Roubaix Race (Cycling): The winning racer of this tournament was given a large piece of stone as a trophy. This trophy had become very heavy for the winning player.
  • British Grand Prix (Formula One Race): Lando Norris was given a trophy made of Lego parts (made by joining bricks, tiles or other shaped things). During this, a trophy accidentally fell from the winner and broke.
