NHAI has initiated a special cleanliness campaign on national highways. Highway users who report unclean toilets at toll plazas will be rewarded a sum of Rs. 1,000 in their FASTag account. The initiative will be ongoing across all national highways of the country until October 31, 2025.

The users of the highway will have to upload geo-tagged (location-tagged) photographs in the new version of the HighwayYatra app so that a complaint can be registered. The complainant will have to provide details like name, location, vehicle registration number, and mobile number. The vehicle registration number (VRN) will then get a Rs. 1,000 Fastag recharge. The award is not transferable and will not be paid in cash.

According to the statement, this campaign will only apply to toilets constructed and operated within the NHAI jurisdiction. Other toilets located at retail fuel stations, dhabas, or other public facilities outside NHAI's control are excluded.

The statement states that each vehicle registration number will be eligible for only one prize during the entire scheme period. Furthermore, each National Highway toilet facility will be eligible for a prize only once per day, regardless of the number of reports received for that location. If multiple reports are received for the same toilet on the same day, only the first valid photo reported through the HighwayYatra app will be eligible for the prize.

The statement states that only clear, geo-tagged, and time-stamped photos taken through the app will be considered. Any tampered, duplicate, or previously reported photos will be rejected.
