Apple’s next-gen Siri won’t be a chatbot yet, full conversational AI planned later
Siri: Apple has long been promising a smarter Siri, but now a major change may be on the horizon. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is preparing to roll out a new Siri update based on Google's Gemini-powered AI as early as February.
Apple has been talking about a smarter Siri for quite some time. Ever since the announcement of 'AppleIntelligence,' expectations have been high. In reality, there have been no major changes in the Siri experience till now. Now, there is a new report that indicates that this long wait is finally over.
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is preparing to roll out a 'Gemini-powered' Siri update as early as February. Siri launched in 2010 and seemed ahead of its time. But over the years, as the era of generative AI took off, Apple's voice assistant fell behind. Competitors like ChatGPT, Copilot, and Gemini proved far superior at understanding context and engaging in natural conversations.
At WWDC 2024, Apple had announced that the next-gen Siri will understand users better and integrate deeper into apps. However, Apple was said to be facing internal delays with their own AI models.
