Afghanistan is going to make its debut in the commentary box in the Asia Cup 2025. An Afghan broadcasting field regular member named Ahmed Farhad Fidai will be seen in the Sony Sports commentary panel for this multinational tournament. There are very few commentators in Afghanistan, and Fidai will be the first Afghan commentator in the history of the Asia Cup. I am excited to share the mic with legends like Sunil Gavaskar after being included in the panel of this tournament.

According to a report by Cricbuzz, Ahmed Farhad will commentate in the Asia Cup 2025 on Sony's broadcast. The tournament will start on September 9, with the first match being between Afghanistan and Hong Kong. Farhad has been commentating regularly for four years. He recently took over the broadcast responsibility in the local Shpageeza League in Kabul.

Farhad said that it will be an honor for me. I have done commentary in bilateral matches for Afghanistan, but this will be my first time in a major championship like the Asia Cup. I am excited to share the mic with legends like Sunil Gavaskar. I have met him once, but have never got a chance to sit in the commentary box.

Afghanistan has always been represented by foreign broadcasters, especially former Pakistani cricketers, in big tournaments. Farhad is achieving this feat in Asia Cup 2025 and believes that outside commentators cannot understand the true essence of Afghan cricket.

He said that cricket is an emotion in Afghanistan and only Afghans can express those feelings correctly. Cricket is more than just a game for Afghans. It is their only source of happiness. This sport spreads hope in a conflict-ridden country. Foreign experts cannot do complete justice, they cannot connect with emotions. Currently Farhad is commentating in the tri-series being played between Pakistan, Afghanistan and UAE in the United Arab Emirates.
