Under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian women's team will try to break the jinx this time as the curtain rises on the Women's T20 World Cup on Thursday. This time too, the Indian daughters will be enthused to make the countrymen proud by winning this time, similar to the men's team that won the T20 World Cup in June this year.

The Indian team has reached the final only once so far in 2020 and here it lost to Australia. This time, too, the Indian team is a strong contender to win the title. The women's T20 World Cup was earlier scheduled to be held in Bangladesh but because of the political instability arising after the coup of Sheikh Hasina's government, ICC decided to hold the tournament in the UAE.

On Thursday, the tournament will start with two matches that will be held in Sharjah. The first match will be played between Bangladesh and Scotland and the second match will be played between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. In this tournament featuring ten teams, defeating Australia will be the most difficult challenge for all of them. So far, this competition has been held nine times, with Australia winning six times.

It is also the final three-time champion. The most difficult challenge for Harmanpreet's team this time is to overcome Australia itself. The Indian team lost to Sri Lanka in the recent Asia Cup final. Following this, it did not have much time to prepare. The team has worked hard on its fitness and fielding, and it is expected to perform well during the tournament.

The conditions here may be favourable to the Indian team. The opening batsmen, Shefali Verma and Smriti Mandhana will be in charge of the batting, while Harmanpreet and Richa Ghosh will be responsible for the middle and death overs. Harmanpreet has been leading the team since 2018, and this time she will face pressure because if the team fails, she may lose her captaincy.

In addition to India, England and South Africa are strong contenders for the title. South Africa performed well at home in the most recent T20 World Cup. Its team advanced to the final of this tournament for the first time but was defeated by Australia.

The Women's T20 World Cup will be the first ICC tournament where the Smart Replay System will be used. This technology has already been used in IPL and The Hundred this year. As per the ICC, each match will have coverage of at least 28 cameras. DRS will be available in all matches, in which Hawkeye Smart Replay System will be used. This will help the TV umpire to make accurate decisions by quickly reviewing the footage coming from different angles simultaneously.
