Indigenous Bullet Train Trials to Start in May-June: Ashwini Vaishnaw Reveals Mumbai-Vadodara Travel Time

According to him, this project is being undertaken as part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision and would greatly cut down the travel time between Vadodara and Mumbai.

"When you board a bullet train journey from Vadodara, you will be able to reach Mumbai in one and half hour." According to him, the construction of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor is moving at a rapid pace.

He informed that the Surat-Vapi section would be completed in December this year. To note, currently, the train journey between Vadodara and Mumbai takes five to six hours.

Referring to major reforms in the railway sector, he said that the government is modernizing the railway operating system, reservation platforms, and construction regulations.

He noted that several pending railway projects have been completed in recent years, including the Chenab Bridge and the rail connectivity project connecting Mizoram to the national railway network.

The Minister stated that 280 railway stations have been redeveloped and 36,000 km of new railway tracks have been laid. He also stated that freight trains are being developed incorporating Vande Bharat technology. Vaishnav stated that the pace of railway infrastructure development has accelerated despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
