Asian Games 2026: Indian Athletes to Sign Affidavit on Fitness, Doping, Match-Fixing and Discipline

The Indian athletes participating in the Asian Games in Japan will be under the code of ethics this time. Every athlete is required to sign an affidavit of his/her fitness, understanding of the doping regulations, no tainting of the nation’s image, and not indulging in match-fixing and betting.

As per the instruction of SAI, all the sporting bodies are supposed to get their athletes and coaches to sign an affidavit and enroll themselves in the National Sports Repository System. The player and the coach should be made to submit details about themselves. It is mandatory for every player to produce a certificate of medical fitness along with the affidavit. SAI has directed that unfit players will not participate in the Asian Games.

Athletes are verbally instructed to maintain discipline and respect the Indian flag. This time, a written affidavit has been requested, stating that they will uphold the spirit of sportsmanship, refrain from match-fixing, betting, age fraud, maintain discipline, and not bring disrepute to the country, the Indian Olympic Association, and the National Sports Federation. The affidavit will be signed and stamped by the athlete, along with a sports association official.
