UK-Based Longbow Introduces Ultra-Light Electric Sports Car Speedster
New British company Longbow has launched its electric sports car, the Longbow Speedster, weighing less than 900 kg. It is considered the lightest EV ever, offering a range of 443 km. The company will produce only 150 units, priced at 84,995 euros. This car offers a perfect balance of performance and efficiency, developed by 70 experts.
The most common misconception associated with electric cars is that they are heavier. This is attributed to the large battery it contains, its strong body design, and the safety features. A new car company in Britain called Longbow has managed to design an electric car that weighs less than 900 kg. This makes the car the lightest vehicle ever. The electric car is called the Longbow Speedster. The major advantage associated with this car is that it is a light electric sports car.
Longbow co-founder Daniel Davey stated clearly during the launch event that the company's focus isn't on "showcasing cars that just look good." He believes this car is operational and ready. This matters because many new firms will reveal appealing concepts, but then take a while to develop into production-ready cars. Longbow asserts that its first product will be out by the end of the year, as promised back in April 2025.
The company's goal is to create sports cars that weigh less than 2,200 pounds (about 998 kg). Specifically, Longbow's target weight for the Speedster is approximately 1,970 pounds (about 895 kg). This is considered extremely low for any EV.
