The Supreme Court has served notice to all the states, terming the prohibition on online betting as a matter of larger public interest, and asked for a response within two weeks.
The court issued these notices on Friday after hearing KA Pal's PIL seeking a ban on online betting. The court will also hear the request for an interim order in the next hearing.
This order has been issued by a bench led by Justice Suryakant after considering the case. KA Pal has asked for an online betting ban in the petition and stated that as a result of this addiction, lakhs of youths have been destroyed, and their families are suffering.
