World Junior Champion Anahat Singh Delays Harvard Admission to Focus on 2028 Los Angeles Olympics
India's star squash player Anahat Singh has set her sights on winning an Olympic medal. Anahat has put her plans to study at Harvard University on hold for now.
The world junior squash champion Anahat Singh says that she will take time to start her education at Harvard University. Anahat wishes to train hard so that she can get a medal at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. The squash star wishes to join Harvard just like her elder sister Amira. However, now that she has won the junior world championship on her fifth attempt, the 18-year-old intends to prepare herself for this year’s Asian games and the 2028 Olympics.
Anahat said, "I was supposed to go to college this year, but because of the Asian Games, I decided to take a year off." Now I understand that this year is very important for me in preparing for the Olympic Games in Los Angeles. What I mean is that I want to focus on my sport this year instead of studying. I'm focusing solely on squash this year and want to ensure I'm at my peak before participating in the Olympics.
After becoming the World Junior Champion, Anahat's goal is now the Asian Games in Japan in September-October. If Anahat wants to win the gold medal at the Asian Games, she will have to find ways to defeat players like world number five Sivasangari Subramaniam of Malaysia and world number six Satomi Watanabe of Japan. Winning the gold medal at the Asian Games will qualify her for the Olympics.
