Trophy Row Erupts: India Refuses to Accept Asia Cup From Pakistan’s Mohsin Naqvi

Although India has won the 2025 Asia Cup, the team has not yet received the trophy. It is still held by Mohsin Naqvi, Chairman of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The Indian team refused to accept the trophy from Naqvi because he is also the Home Minister of the Pakistani government and recently made anti-India statements. Now, the BCCI plans to bring the Asia Cup trophy to India and will raise this issue at today's ACC meeting.

According to a CNN-News18 report, the BCCI claims that Mohsin Naqvi is in possession of the Asia Cup trophy. The report, citing sources, also states that the trophy is not at the ACC headquarters in Dubai. The Board says possessing the trophy is illegal. The BCCI will raise this issue at the Asian Cricket Council meeting on Tuesday, September 30th, starting at 3:30 PM IST in Dubai. This annual general meeting was originally scheduled for July to discuss ACC-related issues.

Patrika Sources also say that if the meeting proceeds as planned, BCCI representatives will participate and formally demand the return of the trophy. If Naqvi does not respond positively, India has planned further actions to compel Naqvi to surrender.
