Prices of gold and silver in the national capital Delhi hit their highest levels in over three months on Friday (August 21). These precious metals have been rising for the second straight session in a row. Low dollar and strong international trends lured investors into havens.
Price of 99.9% purity gold increased by ₹1,200 to ₹1,63,500 per 10 grams, including taxes. The previous close was ₹1,62,300 per 10 grams. This precious metal had been priced at ₹1,63,600 per 10 grams on May 19. Precious metal silver also showed bullish trend. It appreciated by Rs 5,000 to touch Rs 2,50,000 per kg, the highest level in 15 weeks. Previous day close of this precious metal was Rs 2,45,000 per kg. This white metal has appreciated by Rs 15,000 in last two sessions. Price of silver on May 4 was Rs 2,49,500 per kg.
Gaurav Garg, Head of Research at Lemon Markets Desk, said that gold has maintained its bull trend in today's session. Precious metal gold is looking towards its third straight week of gains. Silver has also shown strength due to low US dollar and fall in long-term yield on Treasury bonds. In international markets, spot gold increased by $81.58, or 2%, to $4,600.91 per ounce. Silver increased by almost 3% to $69.87 per ounce.
