Australia vs Bangladesh 1st Test: Bangladesh Take Control on Day 2 as Tanzid Hasan Hits Maiden Test Fifty

Bangladesh made sure that they are firmly in control by performing exceedingly well with the bat on Friday, which is the first session of day two. Both Tanzid and Mominul played exceptionally well, leaving the Australian bowlers eager to get their wickets. The duo of Tanzid and Mominul stitched an excellent 102 run partnership for the second wicket, where Tanzid notched up his first ever Test half-century in just the second test match. Bangladesh lost their second wicket at 138 after Mominul was out for 49 runs.

Australia won the toss and scored just 198 runs in their first innings. Steve Smith top-scored for Australia with a half-century of 71. Five other batsmen failed to reach double figures. Meanwhile, Hasan Mahmud took six wickets for Bangladesh. Taskin Ahmed and Ibadat Hossain took two wickets each.

Bangladesh, in reply to Australia's 198, scored 181 runs in their first innings at lunch. They are now just 17 runs behind Australia. Nazmul Hossain Shanto is batting on 28, while Tanzid Hasan Tamim is batting on 74. Thus, all four sessions of the match have been in the Bangladesh team's favour. While the Bangladeshi bowlers wreaked havoc on the first day, the Australian seamers are still struggling to take wickets on the second day as well.
