Speaking to IANS during a retrospective discussion on his evolving acting career, Singh recalled his initial excitement upon meeting Deol on set, admitting that his nervousness led to a humorous, impromptu reference to one of Indian cinema's most iconic courtroom dramas.
"When I met Sunny sir for the first time, I did not even realize what I was saying," Singh said. "I told him, 'Sunny sir, you were asking for a date (taareekh) in Damini, and finally I will give you a date in this movie.' Later, I realized I was so excited that I lost track of my words. But he is such a warm person that he laughed it off instantly. In fact, he recorded a video with me on that exact topic when we met at the success party."
Singh added that Deol graciously agreed to recreate the lighthearted exchange for a follow-up video, demonstrating the collaborative atmosphere on set.
Addressing the dynamic of working opposite both Deol and Akshaye Khanna, who possess distinct acting methodologies, Singh emphasized the fundamental principles of performance chemistry.
"As an actor, it is all about action and reaction," Singh noted. "You have to adapt according to the person you are sharing the frame with, adjusting your energy to match their performance style."
Singh credited director Siddharth P. Malhotra for shaping his performance in Ikka, noting that a clear directorial vision allowed him to immerse himself fully in the character. He drew a direct parallel between the film and his seminal television work, highlighting Ikka as a critical turning point in his transition from behind the microphone to in front of the camera.
"I often say that Ikka did for my acting career what Bigg Boss did for my voice career," Singh explained. "It established my credibility as an actor, whereas the show established my identity as a voice."
Despite a wide-ranging portfolio across popular streaming projects—including his breakthrough role as Chintamani Sharma in Neeraj Pandey's espionage thriller series Special OPS—Singh observed that audience recognition often anchors to specific, memorable characters. He expressed gratitude that his performance in Ikka resonated strongly with viewers and industry peers alike.
While Singh maintains an active career as one of India's premier voiceover artists, his recent filmography demonstrates a steady expansion into character-driven roles within mainstream cinema and digital streaming platforms, reinforcing his dual profile in the Indian entertainment industry.
