Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Seeks Protection for Southern States in Delimitation, NEET Exemption and Joint Action on Drugs
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay urged the central government to protect the parliamentary representation of southern states, exempt Tamil Nadu from NEET, and foster coordination among states on drug trafficking.
Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu C. Joseph Vijay asked the government to safeguard the parliamentary representation of southern states, exempt Tamil Nadu from the NEET medical entrance test, and improve cooperation among states to counter the problem of drug trafficking. On Friday, DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran posed a question regarding his stand on delimitation.
He claimed that the change in the stand of the Chief Minister was because of the meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Vijay mentioned the above three matters during the 31st Southern Zonal Council meeting conducted in the state, presided by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Regarding the delimitation, he requested a binding legislative commitment that the process of delimitation shall not diminish the current representation of any state in Parliament. He said that the southern states have been leading the nation in terms of population stabilization, human development, and economic growth.
