Taylor Fritz reaches Wimbledon semi-finals for the first time, defeats Karen Khachanov

Taylor Fritz defeated Karen Khachanov 6-3, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (7-4) in a thrilling quarter-final on Tuesday to reach the Wimbledon semifinals for the first time. The fifth-seeded American displayed patience and composure in a match that lasted two hours and 36 minutes to beat Russian player Khachanov. It was Fritz's first win against Khachanov in three matches.

According to the ATP, this win is like compensation for Taylor after his five-set quarter-final loss to Rafael Nadal in 2022. Fritz said after the victory, "I feel very good to win this match. I think the match was very good for me till two sets. I have never seen the match turn around so quickly. I am very happy with the way I came back in the fourth set and won. The momentum was not in my favor before going into the fifth set."

Fritz took full control at the start and won the first two sets without facing a break point. But Khachanov took the third set. Fritz asked for a medical timeout to treat a right foot problem. Khachanov took advantage of this by breaking in the fourth set.
