Spain Sweats Over Lamine Yamal, Pedro Porro Fitness Ahead of FIFA World Cup 2026 Final vs Argentina
FIFA World Cup: The FIFA World Cup 2026 title clash is set to take place between Argentina and Spain. However, Spain is facing a setback ahead of the match as two of its players are grappling with fitness issues.
The team of Spain prepares for the upcoming match of the 2026 World Cup against Argentina. However, fitness concerns about two players, Lamine Yamal and Pedro Porro, are a cause for concern for Spain before the match. During the first training session in New Jersey, Yamal and Porro trained separately from the rest of the squad. The two had some light exercise and stretching routines on the sideline.
Yamal had a bandage on his left thigh. He had a hamstring injury before the tournament began, although its severity remains unknown. According to reports, the player had been isolated from the rest of the squad in order to increase the possibility of him being available for the final match. So far, Yamal has participated in 496 minutes in the World Cup tournament and has featured in all matches except the one against Cape Verde. Although he has not quite regained his peak form since returning from injury, he performed well against France in the semi-final; his blistering pace and excellent movement earned Spain a penalty, allowing the team to take the lead.
Meanwhile, Pedro Porro has started five of Spain's seven matches and has logged a total of 444 minutes on the pitch. He also scored goals in the Round of 32 match against Austria and the semi-final against France. Following the semi-final, Spain's head coach Luis de la Fuente revealed that Porro was experiencing minor muscle tightness and that his fitness would be assessed before the final.
