President Murmu Congratulates CWG Medal Winners
President Droupadi Murmu praised para-athletes Dilip Gavit and Mohammed Basil for their 1-2 finish and long-jumper Murali Sreeshankar for silver at CWG 2026.
New Delhi, July 30 — President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday congratulated Indian athletes for their performances at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, highlighting a historic one-two finish by para-athletes in the men’s T47 100 metres and a silver medal by long-jumper Murali Sreeshankar.
Dilip Mahadu Gavit won gold in the men’s 100 m T47 with a Games record time of 10.71 seconds. Compatriot Mohammed Basil Morssinganakathi took silver with a season-best 10.83 seconds, giving India a double podium in the event.
