Kartik Sharma’s Maiden IPL Fifty Powers CSK to Win Over MI

An Indian Premier League match between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians took place on Saturday night in MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The new young player, 20-year-old Kartik Sharma, had an important part to play in Chennai’s victory as he made an unbeaten score of 54 runs off just 40 balls with the help of four fours and three sixes. He is a wicket keeper batsman who plays domestic matches for Rajasthan and is renowned for his six-hitting skills. Many times in Ranji trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy matches, he has proved himself to be such a player. Chennai has paid a huge price of ₹14.2 crore for him.

Karthik Sharma made his IPL debut this season and has played six matches so far. He played a brilliant innings against Mumbai and, along with captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, led his team to an easy victory. This was his first IPL half-century, coming at the age of 20 years and 6 days. With this, Karthik became the second youngest CSK batsman to score a half-century in the IPL, after Ayush Mhatre (17 years and 291 days).

After the match, Karthik said, "Rutu Bhaiya simply told me to play the way I play and nothing else. Just go out there, play my natural game, and help the team win." Regarding Karthik's gun celebration after reaching his half-century, he said, "I had already decided that if I scored runs today, I would celebrate like this."
