Now the players' will not be able to do as they please, Gambhir-Agarkar will bring this strict rule in collaboration with BCCI

Chief selector Ajit Agarkar and Team India's head coach Gautam Gambhir want to create such an environment in the team, in which no player gets more importance than the rest. In such a situation, they are going to bring a strict rule in collaboration with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

'World load' management has been a topic of discussion within the Indian team for some time now. Over the past few years, star players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah have withdrawn from many series under the pretext of workload management and have decided to take a rest. The same happened during the Test series against England. Bumrah had decided before the series that he would play only three Tests, and ultimately, that was how it turned out.

Chief selector Ajit Agarkar and Team India's head coach Gautam Gambhir aim to create a team environment where no player is given more importance than others. In line with this goal, they plan to implement a strict rule in cooperation with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Gambhir, Agarkar, and the BCCI agree that, now, under the guise of workload management, players should not have the freedom to choose which matches or series to play.

A senior BCCI official told PTI, 'This has been discussed and it has been made clear to all players with central contracts, especially those who compete in all three formats, that the culture of selecting matches at their discretion will no longer be acceptable. This does not mean workload management will be ignored. It remains necessary for fast bowlers, but under this approach, they cannot avoid important matches."
