The Ketan Agarwal murder case is a highly debated issue throughout the nation. Some facts regarding this case have been revealed. The fiancée of Ketan Agarwal, Siya Goyal, is involved in the murder of Ketan. One of the suspicions by Ketan’s sister led to the revelation of the facts behind the murder of Ketan.
On 18th June, while on a trekking expedition with Siya, Ketan Agarwal plunged into the gorge located in Lohagad Fort and died. According to allegations, it was Siya who had pushed Ketan from the height.
Initially, the Lonavala Rural Police had considered the case as an accidental death and filed a case accordingly. However, Ketan’s sister was not convinced of the theory of accident. She had some suspicion, which resulted in the unraveling of this conspiracy.
Even after Ketan's funeral, his sister remained skeptical of the accident narrative and continued to scrutinize the details. She harbored several unanswered questions regarding the incident.
An NDTV report, citing sources, states that four days after the incident, Siya Goyal visited the Agarwal family home to offer her condolences. During this visit, Ketan's sister questioned Siya in detail about the events at Lohagad.
Ketan and Siya had gone trekking at Lohagad Fort on three occasions: May 31, June 14, and June 18. The contradictions in Siya's answers and her evasive attitude deepened the sister's suspicions. She subsequently shared her concerns with the family, leading them to approach the police and demand a fresh investigation into the matter. Following pressure from the family, the police began examining CCTV footage and technical evidence, and questioning individuals connected to the case. During the investigation, the police also learned of an alleged affair between Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary.
The Agarwal family alleges that the Goyal family was aware of the relationship between Siya and Chetan, yet they encouraged it and assured everyone that things would work out.
CCTV footage from the area showed an individual wearing a hoodie-despite the June heat-tailing the car belonging to Ketan and Siya and loitering near Lohgarh Fort. His unusual attire caught the investigators' attention, helping them identify and locate Chetan.
The police also found inconsistencies in Siya's statements regarding the day of the incident, specifically concerning her account of events after Ketan fell. Consequently, a deeper investigation into the matter was launched.
The police then detained Siya and Chetan and began questioning them. When neither provided clear answers, the police intensified the interrogation and investigation. Evidence began to suggest that this was not an accident, but a premeditated murder.
Later, the police discovered that Siya and Chetan had been in contact for the past three years; between January and June of this year alone, they had spoken 2,004 times, totaling 238 hours of conversation. Police allege that the two also frequently communicated via FaceTime and WhatsApp calls.
Initially, Siya told the police that Ketan had slipped and fallen into the gorge while taking photographs. However, on Tuesday, the police stated that Siya and her lover, Chetan, had pushed Ketan to his death and attempted to stage it as an accident.
The police arrested Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary on June 23 and are now investigating whether anyone else was involved in the conspiracy.
