The fall in the stock market has affected the Indian currency. The rupee weakened by 2 paise to its all-time low of 83.36 against the US dollar in the morning trading session on Friday.
Today the rupee opened at 83.33 against the dollar in the interbank foreign exchange market. It touched a low of 83.36 in early trade, showing a fall of 2 paise over its previous close. On Thursday, the rupee closed at 83.34 against the American currency.
Meanwhile, the greenback was trading 0.12 percent lower at 103.79 in the dollar index. Global oil benchmark Brent crude futures fell 0.06 percent to US$81.37 per barrel.
In Friday's trading session, BSE Sensex was trading 40.84 points or 0.06 percent lower at 65,976.97, while the broader NSE Nifty was down 2.75 points or 0.01 percent at 19,799.25. According to exchange data, foreign institutional investors bought shares worth Rs 255.53 crore on Thursday.
