These days frauds related to technology are increasing day by day with the increase in the trend of technology. In the latest case, fraudsters have created a 'deepfake video' of RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das. In this, the RBI Governor is talking about starting or supporting some investment schemes. It is being said that these schemes are being run by the central bank i.e. RBI.

RBI has warned against the 'deepfake' i.e. fake video of Governor Shaktikanta Das going viral on social media. RBI said in a statement issued on Tuesday, 'It has come to our notice that fake videos of the Governor are being circulated in the internet media. In this, it is claimed that RBI has started or supported some investment schemes.'

The video tries to advise people to invest their money in such schemes through the use of technical tools. The statement said, 'RBI clarifies that its officials are not involved in or support any such activity and these videos are completely fake. RBI never gives any financial investment advice.'

A similar advisory to caution investors was issued by the National Stock Exchange (NSE) some months ago. Then, a deepfake video of NSE MD and CEO Ashish Kumar Chauhan came, which was made with the help of Artificial Intelligence, that is AI. In this Chauhan was seen recommending the purchase of some stocks.

NSE, then, clarified that investors should not get trapped in those things as officials in NSE never advise on the buying and selling of shares. Besides this, there have been several incidents in which videos of big businessmen went viral on social media, recommending buying of shares and also giving business advice; all those videos were fake and created using Artificial Intelligence.

The exchanges also screen news published about companies that the latter themselves do not reveal. They also check whether investors are investing in such companies based on unverified news. If the news is unverified, then it is usually the job of the exchanges to ask for confirmation or denial from the company.
