As per a news report, the tech giant Apple is planning to produce all the iPhones available for sale in America from the start of next year. Not only will it give a boost to Make in India, but also position India to become more of a global manufacturing center.
The report states that amid US-China trade disputes, numerous companies, among which is Apple, are racing to diversify their supply chain. Apple aims to entirely transfer the production of over 60 million iPhones that are sold in the US to the Indian facility by 2026. This is Apple's largest manufacturing transition in decades, according to its new investment plans for India.
Apple has increased its production in India through partnerships with Tata Electronics and Foxconn. Foxconn is manufacturing iPhones in India by importing equipment from China. Recent data from market intelligence firm IDC shows that more than 3 million iPhones made in India were exported in the first three months of 2025. Foxconn exported iPhones worth $1.31 billion in March. This also included models like iPhone 13, 14, 16, and 16E.
