The airline announced on Thursday that services on the Kozhikode–Salalah route resumed from July 2, while Kozhikode–Kuwait flights will restart from July 3. Bengaluru–Kuwait services are scheduled to begin from July 4, with frequencies set to increase gradually over the coming days.
The Kozhikode–Salalah route will initially operate twice a week. The Kozhikode–Kuwait service begins with one weekly flight from July 3, expanding to three weekly services from July 5. Similarly, the Bengaluru–Kuwait route will start with one weekly flight from July 4 and increase to three weekly flights from July 7.
With the resumption of Salalah operations, Air India Express now serves two airports in Oman — Muscat International Airport and Salalah International Airport. The airline has also reinstated flights between Muscat and Mangaluru from July 3. Currently, it operates around 40 weekly flights from Muscat to seven destinations across India.
All Kuwait-bound and Kuwait-originating services will operate from Terminal 4 at Kuwait International Airport. Passengers can book tickets through the airline’s official website, mobile app, and other major booking platforms.
This development marks a significant boost for travellers, especially from Kerala and Karnataka, who have strong cultural and economic ties with the Gulf region. The phased resumption ensures smooth operational integration while meeting growing demand.
Air India Express now connects to 13 destinations across Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The airline operates approximately 780 weekly flights between India and West Asia, directly linking 18 Indian cities with Gulf destinations.
In recent weeks, the carrier has expanded its network with new routes including Navi Mumbai–Abu Dhabi, Guwahati–Abu Dhabi, Guwahati–Dubai, Bengaluru–Phuket, and Pune–Amritsar. Following these additions, Air India Express will operate around 415 weekly flights from Bengaluru, connecting to 30 domestic and seven international destinations. From Kozhikode, it now runs approximately 85 weekly flights, linking the city with Bengaluru and 13 West Asia destinations.
The resumption of these routes is expected to provide much-needed relief to passengers affected by previous disruptions and further enhance people-to-people and trade connections between India and the Gulf.
Air India Express continues to strengthen its position as a key player in the India-West Asia aviation market. The strategic expansion reflects the airline’s commitment to meeting passenger demand and supporting economic ties with the region.
With these developments, Air India Express is well-positioned to cater to the growing travel needs of Indian diaspora communities and business travellers while contributing to the overall growth of India’s aviation sector.
