Users upset Samsung's One UI 7 new update, phone battery is draining quickly
One UI 7: Samsung's One UI 7 update is based on Android 15. It was launched in January with the Galaxy S25 series. This update was also given to older models like Galaxy S24 and S23 series. But many users are facing battery drain problems. Users of Galaxy S and Z series have complained of reduced battery life on X.

Samsung's One UI 7 update on Android 15 was released along with the Samsung Galaxy S25 series when the Samsung Galaxy S25 series was launched in the Galaxy Unpacked event this year. Older devices like Galaxy S24 series and Galaxy S23 series also got the One UI 7 update last month. But users are complaining about severe battery drain issues after the One UI 7 update in certain models. Galaxy S and Galaxy Z foldable users alleged that poor battery life occurs after the update. Users complain that battery life reduces when the device is fully charged.
Several Galaxy S24 series and Galaxy S23 series users along with Galaxy Z Fold 6 users complained about their battery life after the update on Reddit, Samsung support forum and X (formerly known as Twitter). These users reported that the battery life has dropped dramatically after the latest update.
A Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 user on Reddit reported that their battery now drops to 20 to 25 percent by the end of the day, whereas it was 45 to 50 percent before the update. Many other users have also complained of similar battery drain problems. A Galaxy S24 Ultra user claims that the battery life has decreased drastically after the One UI 7 update, and they are barely getting six hours of screen on time.
This problem is not limited to only older Galaxy S and Galaxy Z series smartphones. Some complaints suggest that these problems are also being faced in the recent Galaxy S25 series after the update.
Samsung has not yet officially stated on the problems reported by users online. The company may introduce a fix for this with the May 2025 update. Some users are advising to clear the app cache via recovery mode and allow One UI 7 to adjust to the usage pattern for a few days.
Note that after a major OS update, it is normal for smartphones to use more power for some time due to background optimization. If the battery problem persists, factory resetting and resetting the phone may help.
Samsung launched its Galaxy S25 series in January with Android 15-based One UI 7. The South Korean brand has started the One UI 7 rollout for older Galaxy smartphones and tablets from April 7.
