Star Health Data leak: Telegram said - cannot monitor all bots, only content will be blocked
Star Health Data Leak: Star Health is also looking into its investigation of whether its chief security officer had any connection with the data leak. He said that the security officer is cooperating in the investigation and no evidence has been found against him so far.
Controversy over the leakage of information about Star Health is growing unchecked. Earlier, the company completely denied this news of data leakage; then, the company itself confirmed the data breach. Later, other news came in, saying that an officer of its own company was involved in this data leak. Telegram has come out to be the biggest culprit in this data leak because the entire game of data leak was done through the Telegram bot.
On Friday, it told the Madras High Court that it cannot keep track of all accounts operating bots. It further added that it will block only those controversial contents marked and reported to it. On September 20, a hacker used Telegram chatbots and a website to leak Star Health's data which also included people's biometric identity cards and medical claim papers.
Last month, Star Health approached the Madras High Court and urged it to order the removal of all bots relating to Telegram. During the hearing last Friday, the lawyer appearing for Telegram said monitoring all the chatbots would amount to a violation of Indian laws.
However, it agreed that it would delete that data if assistance from the company is received. Madras High Court Judge Kumaresh Babu ordered the insurance company on Friday to share all details of the controversial chatbots with Telegram and ordered the social media app to block them immediately.
