No Need to Search QR Scanner: PhonePe Adds ‘Shake & Scan’ for Instant UPI Payments

There are times when we have to make payments quickly, but it takes a lot of time to open the UPI app, navigate to the QR scan option, and complete all the processes. This is more challenging for users who do not have the UPI app on their home screen due to security reasons. Now, with this new feature, users can simply shake their phone to open the QR code scanner and make payments.

Shake & Pay is a new feature that helps users initiate a payment simply by shaking their phone. Users do not have to open the UPI app and look for the QR scan option. All they have to do is shake their phone as they do while saying goodbye. The scanner will then open immediately, allowing you to make your payment.

This feature is currently available in the PhonePe app. If you've enabled this feature, shaking your phone after opening the app will immediately open the QR code scanner screen. This makes making payments at shops, restaurants, or anywhere faster and easier than ever.

It's important to note that for security reasons, this feature only works if the PhonePe app is already open in the background.

If you want to use this feature, follow the steps below:

1. Open the PhonePe app on your phone.
2. Tap the profile icon on the top left of the home screen.
3. Scroll down to find the Shake & Scan option.
4. Turn on the Shake & Scan option below your QR code.
5. Afterward, whenever you shake your phone with the app open, the QR scanner page will open directly.

If you want to make payments even faster, you can also use biometric authentication. After scanning the QR code, you simply need to confirm the payment with face unlock or fingerprint. This eliminates the need to repeatedly enter the UPI PIN, and the payment will be completed in seconds.
