Now, cab aggregators like Ola, Uber, Rapido (and others) in the entire country, including Delhi, will not be able to keep vehicles older than eight years in their fleet. According to the revised guidelines issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for aggregators, now passenger vehicles like cars, buses, autos, and bikes cannot be used on the platform if they are more than eight years old.

Besides this, each aggregator will also have to achieve the minimum state government-mandated participation required for electric and zero-emission vehicles. Its objective is to reduce pollution by boosting the sale of EVs.

The standard also specifies that the driver's driving license and road permit should be visibly displayed close to the driver's seat, such that the occupants can quickly view them.

For the first time, the Ministry of Road Transport has also included three-wheelers and private motorcycles in the aggregator policy, as there was confusion about bike taxis in some states. This will now give clear direction to the states as to which vehicles can be allowed in aggregator services.

Under the new guidelines, aggregators will also have to conduct a psychological analysis of their drivers to ensure whether they are eligible to serve on the platform or not.

Apart from this, aggregators can no longer prevent onboard drivers from working on any other platform. That is, a driver can work with more than one aggregator if he want.
