NEW DELHI — The Eighth BRICS Youth Energy Summit 2026, hosted virtually under India’s BRICS Chairship, concluded with a unanimous commitment to position young scientists, entrepreneurs, and policy professionals at the forefront of the global transition to clean, inclusive, and future-ready energy systems.
The multilateral gathering brought together more than 100 participants from across the expanded BRICS bloc.Attendees included youth representatives from academic institutions, energy ministries, and the BRICS Youth Energy Agency (BRICS YEA), alongside delegates from key global partners—including Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL), the International Solar Alliance (ISA), and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
Guided by 'Energy for All' Under India's Presidency
India’s overarching theme for its 2026 BRICS Chairship—"Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability (BRICS)"—was paired under the energy track with the targeted vision of "सर्वेषां ऊर्जम्" (Energy for All).
Opening deliberations focused on empowering young technical leaders to solve structural energy deficits and spearhead climate-resilient power infrastructure across the Global South.
"The eighth BRICS Youth Energy Summit reaffirmed the role of young people in strengthening energy cooperation among BRICS countries and developing solutions for a secure, sustainable, inclusive and future-ready energy sector," India's Ministry of Power noted in an official summit briefing.

Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS): Operational reforms strengthening discom financial stability and grid performance.
India Energy Stack (IES): Digital architecture facilitating smart metering, energy data interoperability, and consumer engagement.
