PM Modi to Launch Nasha Mukta Yuva Campaign Aug 2

The initiative will involve a wide network of organisations, including MY Bharat volunteers, the National Service Scheme (NSS), youth clubs, schools, colleges, universities, non-governmental organisations, industrial associations and more than 125 spiritual organisations.

Unlike one-day awareness drives, the campaign has been structured as a sustained 100-week programme. Activities are planned for every Sunday over the full period and will include sports events, walkathons, meditation sessions, cultural programmes, art competitions, street plays (nukkad nataks) and other community engagement efforts. The intention is to channel youth energy into constructive nation-building activities while promoting healthier lifestyles.

Volunteers and organisations that make significant contributions will be recognised at the 50th, 75th and 100th week milestones.

Campaign organisers describe the central message as “drug-free youth are the greatest strength of Viksit Bharat.” The programme seeks to carry this message to young citizens nationwide and to convert public participation into long-term behavioural and social change.

By combining a high-visibility launch with a two-year calendar of weekly activities and a broad institutional network, the government aims to maintain continuous public engagement on the issue of substance abuse rather than relying on a single event. The scale of planned participation—covering thousands of locations and millions of volunteers—positions the campaign as one of the larger youth-focused social initiatives of recent years.
