Mumbai Airport Incident: Air India Flight Grounded After Wingtip Collision with IndiGo Plane

A major accident was narrowly averted at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Monday, 3rd February. The wingtips of two Air India and Indigo aircraft collided at the taxiway near the runway. No casualties were reported in the accident, and all the passengers are safe.

According to reports, Air India flight AI 2732, which was preparing to take off from Mumbai to Coimbatore, was waiting on the taxiway. At the same time, IndiGo flight 6E 791, arriving from Hyderabad to Mumbai, was taxiing after landing. During this time, the wingtips of the two aircraft rubbed against each other, damaging the wingtip of the Air India aircraft.

Air India: A spokesperson confirmed that the aircraft has been grounded for a technical inspection as a precautionary measure. Passengers have been safely disembarked, and alternative arrangements are being made to transport them to their destination.
