OakleyMetaVanguard has been launched in India on Tuesday. These smart glasses have been designed for outdoor athletes and are a reimagined version of the Ray Ban Meta Glasses. The glasses come with a 12-megapixel camera in the center of the glasses and can record 1080p videos at 60 frames per second (fps). The Oakley Meta Vanguard smart glasses come with Meta AI integration and allow users to talk to Meta AI or make calls.
The price of the Oakley Meta Vanguard in India starts at ₹52,300. These glasses are available for sale at Sunglass Hut, LensCrafters, and major optical stores nationwide. Customers can choose from four different variants of the smart glasses:
- Oakley Meta Vanguard Black with Prizm 24K
- Oakley Meta Vanguard White with Prizm Black
- Oakley Meta Vanguard Black with Prizm Road
- Oakley Meta Vanguard White with Prizm Sapphire
According to Meta, the Oakley Meta Vanguard is designed for athletes and cyclists involved in high-intensity sports. Unlike the standard Ray-Ban Meta, which has a wayfarer style, the new smart glasses feature a wraparound, eye-protection design inspired by Oakley's signature Vanguard frame. The glasses weigh 66g and have an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance.

Meta says it used Prizm Lens technology in the Oakley Meta Vanguard, which is claimed to block sun, wind, and dust. Similar to the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, which have a 12-megapixel camera located slightly differently, the Oakley Meta Vanguard smart glasses have a 12-megapixel camera with a 122-degree FoV and a first-person perspective for video recording. The camera allows for video recording in 1080p 30fps for five minutes and 1080p 60fps for three minutes. There's also the option to record videos in up to 3K resolution at 30fps for three minutes, which can then be shared on Meta apps like Facebook and Instagram.
The rest of the Oakley Meta's features are the same. The smartglasses have open-ear speakers and a five-microphone array. However, what sets the Vanguard apart from the Ray-Ban Meta is a new action button that allows users to control camera modes. Additionally, there's a secondary customizable button beneath the lens arms.
Ray-Ban Meta Glasses rely heavily on AI, utilizing the company's own Meta AI assistant. Users can use simple voice prompts like "Hey Meta AI" to perform various hands-free actions, such as identifying the song playing in a cafe.
Meta has also introduced several features specific to India. First, users can select Hindi as their preferred language in the Meta AI app, allowing them to ask questions, get information, reply to texts, and control media in Hindi. Furthermore, Hindi support is also available for hands-free voice interactions and UPI Lite payments. Finally, Meta has added Deepika Padukone as an option to the voice lineup available for the AI assistant.
The Menlo Park-based company has also partnered with Garmin to integrate Meta AI with the company's smartwatches. When paired with a Garmin watch, users can ask the Oakley Meta Vanguard to display health or workout information via the microphone, and the smartwatch will instantly display the data.
In terms of connectivity, the smartglasses support Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6E. They come with 32GB of built-in storage. Meta says the Vanguard offers up to nine hours of battery life with regular use or six hours of continuous music playback. The charging case is claimed to provide an additional 36 hours of battery life.
