Mark Zuckerberg Restructures AI Under ‘Superintelligence Labs’ After Key Departures
Meta has undergone a major leadership change. Chief Revenue Officer John Hegemann has resigned and announced his intention to launch his own startup. His responsibilities will now be taken over by Andrew Bocking. This move comes after news recently emerged that Meta's Chief AI Scientist, Yann LeCun, was also leaving the company to launch his own startup.
Facebook's parent company, Meta, just underwent a significant change in leadership. On Tuesday, Chief Revenue Officer John Hegemann announced he was leaving Meta to start a startup of his own. In turn, Hegemann's role has been handed over to Andrew Bocking, a senior executive at Meta and current head of the company's ad product and strategy department. Hegemann's announcement comes hot on the heels of last week's news that Meta's Chief AI Scientist, Yann LeCun, was similarly planning to leave the company to launch his own startup.
The company is currently fast-developing AI superintelligence. Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO, is restructuring the initiatives of AI under the new banner called "Superintelligence Labs." Recently, he appointed Alexander Wang, the former CEO of Scale AI, to spearhead AI projects.
In his post, Hegeman thanked Zuckerberg for his trust and support. He also said that the decision to leave the company was not easy for him. Meta's Head of Product, Naomi Gleit, will now be the new head of Business AI. Meanwhile, Clara Shih, head of the Business AI unit, who joined Meta only last year, is also leaving the company. According to reports, she decided to step down after the death of her father.
