The Government made clear instructions to the ride-hailing firms, namely Ola, Uber, and Rapido, on Wednesday, and asked them to stop providing the facility of advance tips to passengers.
According to the circular from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, some ride-hailing firms have added the feature to their apps through which the rider was allowed to give an advance tip to the passenger.
According to the circular from the ministry, there is a possibility that this kind of a facility may give the impression to the passengers that giving an advance tip increases the possibility of getting a ride quickly. This facility can also make passengers pay more as a tip during the time of high demand.
