The 1000X The Collexion headphones and the WF-1000XM6 true wireless earbuds have hit the Indian market a few months after their global launch by Sony. The former was first launched in some select global markets during the month of May, in honor of the 10th Anniversary of Sony’s 1000X range while the latter was launched during the month of February. Both feature improved active noise cancellation (ANC) capabilities, AI calling abilities, Google Gemini compatibility and new smart listening capabilities.
In India, the Sony 1000X The Collexion is priced at ₹59,990, while the Sony WF-1000XM6 retails at ₹29,990. The colors available for both are Black, with the headphones also being available in Platinum and the earbuds in Platinum Silver. Sony, according to an official press statement, will commence the sales from the 7th of August via Amazon, Flipkart, selected Croma and Reliance Digital stores, Sony Centres and ShopAtSC.com.
The Sony 1000X The Collexion features a closed-back over-ear design, a wide cushioned headband, redesigned earcups, and a lightweight body weighing approximately 320 grams. These headphones use custom 30mm dynamic drivers, featuring a new high-rigidity dome and soft edge structure made from unidirectional carbon composite material. They are powered by the HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN3 and Integrated Processor V3, and their sound tuning was developed in collaboration with mastering engineers under the company's 'For the Music' initiative.
For active noise cancellation, the headphones feature Multi Noise Sensor technology with 12 mics, Adaptive NC Optimizer, Ambient Sound Mode, and Wind Noise Reduction. For calls, they feature AI-based voice isolation, beamforming microphones, and Precise Voice Pickup technology, along with a shortcut to mute or unmute calls using the NC and Ambient buttons.
Audio features on the Sony 1000X The Collexion include Hi-Res Audio, Hi-Res Audio Wireless, DSEE Ultimate, 360 Reality Audio, and 360 Upmix modes for music, cinema, and gaming. Sound AR, dedicated listening modes, and a 10-band equalizer with Game EQ and BGM presets are also available. The headphones offer Bluetooth 6.0, multipoint connectivity, and support for the SBC, AAC, LDAC, and LC3 audio codecs.
Sony's 1000X The Collexion headphones include Google Gemini integration, Quick Access, Adaptive Sound Control, Scene-Based Listening, Auto Play, and support for the Sony Sound Connect app. The headset also offers Speak to Chat, Wearing Detection, Quick Attention, and Head Gesture Controls.
Sony claims that the 1000X The Collexion headphones offer up to 24 hours of battery life with active noise cancellation on and up to 32 hours with it off. For accessibility, the headphones come with tactile buttons, clear L/R indicators, and a magnetic carrying case.
The Sony WF-1000XM6 feature a closed in-ear design with a new ergonomic shape for a better fit, a refined surface finish, and ear tips in XS, S, M, and L sizes. These earbuds use 8.4mm drivers and are powered by Sony's HD noise-canceling processor, the QN3e, along with an upgraded DAC and amplifier. Audio features include DSEE Extreme and support for the SBC, AAC, LDAC, and LC3 codecs.
Sony says the WF-1000XM6 offers up to 25 percent better active noise cancellation than the older Sony WF-1000XM5. The earbuds feature four mics, Adaptive NC Optimizer, and Auto Ambient Sound mode, which adjusts noise cancellation based on the surrounding environment. They also include Ambient Sound Mode, Quick Attention, and Wind Noise Reduction.
For calls, the Sony WF-1000XM6 uses AI-backed beamforming, multiple mics, and a bone conduction sensor to improve voice pickup while reducing background noise. Other features include Google Gemini integration, scene-based listening, Speak to Chat, head gesture controls, the Sony Sound Connect app, and Bluetooth 5.3 with multipoint connectivity.
Sony claims that the earbuds offer up to 8 hours of playback with ANC on and 12 hours of playback with it off. The total battery life with the charging case is claimed to be up to 24 hours. A quick 5-minute charge is claimed to provide up to 50 minutes of playback.
Each bud of the Sony WF-1000XM6 weighs approximately 6.5 grams, while the charging case weighs 47 grams and measures 61.6 x 41.1 x 26.5mm. The earbuds are rated IPX4 for splash resistance.
